Government attempts to deport stateless Palestinian woman again despite court order
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The federal government attempted to deport stateless Palestinian Ward Sakeik for the second time on Monday, despite a court order prohibiting her removal, just days after the first stage of her green card application was approved. Sakeik, who has lived in the U.S. since she was eight and is married to a U.S. citizen, was detained in February and faced a deportation order stemming from a denied asylum case over a decade ago.

Explain It To Me Like I’m 5: The U.S. government tried to send a young woman named Ward Sakeik, who has no country to go back to and is married to an American, away from the country even though a judge said they couldn’t, and this happened after she was just told she could start getting a green card.
