A massive fire has destroyed Louisiana’s historic Nottoway Resort, the largest antebellum mansion in the South, with officials confirming its complete loss. Emergency services responded to the blaze, which was reported around 2:10 p.m. on May 15, 2025, and although no injuries were reported, the fire required ten departments to contain it. Iberville Parish President Chris Daigle emphasized the mansion’s historical significance, noting its construction in 1859 and its value to Louisiana’s heritage.
