MLB has removed Pete Rose, “Shoeless” Joe Jackson, and 15 other deceased players from its permanent banned list, allowing them eligibility for the Baseball Hall of Fame posthumously. This decision enables Rose, banned for life in 1989 for gambling, to be considered for Hall induction, although the Historical Overview Committee won’t vote until December 2027. Jackson was banned in connection with the 1919 World Series scandal, and like Rose, is now eligible for Hall of Fame consideration following this significant policy change.
