A small home-built kit airplane, a Vans RV-10, crashed in Simi Valley, California, on Saturday afternoon, killing the unidentified pilot and damaging two homes. The crash, which occurred around 2:10 p.m. near High Meadow Street and Wood Ranch Parkway, prompted a response from approximately 40 firefighters who extinguished the resulting fire; fortunately, occupants in the homes were unharmed.
