A search is underway for over 30 fragments of the ancient Stone of Destiny that separated from the artefact after its theft from Westminster Abbey and secret repair. Professor Sally Foster is compiling the history of these pieces, many of which are in private collections or passed down through families, shedding new light on the stone’s long history. The fragments were created when a mason repaired the stone in 1950 under Bertie Gray’s supervision, who then distributed them to the student thieves and others involved in the nationalist movement, revealing that there may be more than 30 pieces in existence.
