Sri Lanka opened their 2025 Asia Cup campaign with a commanding six-wicket victory over Bangladesh in Abu Dhabi.
Pathum Nissanka became the fastest Sri Lankan to reach 2,000 T20 runs, scoring 50 off 34 balls as Sri Lanka chased down Bangladesh’s 139-5 with 5 overs to spare. Bangladesh, recovering from a poor start, saw Shamim Hossain and Jaker Ali contribute 42 and 41 runs, respectively, but Sri Lanka’s bowlers, led by Wanindu Hasaranga, were effective in limiting their score.
