Three-time world champion surfer Mick Fanning expressed surprise and gratitude upon being named as one of the eight new inductees to the Sport Australia Hall of Fame, alongside athletes such as Mark Knowles, Karen Murphy, Sally Pearson, and Mark Skaife. The ceremony, to be held next month, will also honor Gerry Ryan and the late Betty Watson as general members. Fanning and Pearson both described the honor as surreal and a special recognition for their accomplishments in sports.
