Spain investigates expired vaccines administered to 253 children

Health authorities in Spain’s Basque Country are investigating the administration of expired hexavalent vaccines to 253 patients, primarily infants. Basque Health Minister Alberto Martinez assured that these expired doses pose no health risks following consultations with the national medicines agency and the vaccine manufacturer. He acknowledged the seriousness of the incident and apologized to affected families, stating an internal investigation is underway to prevent future occurrences. The hexavalent vaccine protects against six diseases, including diphtheria and polio.
