Spain adopts measure to transfer unaccompanied migrant minors from the Canary Islands

Spain adopted a measure to redistribute unaccompanied underage migrants from the overcrowded Canary Islands to other regions in the country, ending a political stalemate. The reform aims to ease pressure on migrant reception centers, with the Canary Islands currently sheltering over 5,000 minors. The move is a response to the record number of migrants reaching the archipelago from West Africa, with nearly 47,000 arriving last year, and a 21% decrease in arrivals so far this year.
