SpaceX launched a rescue mission to bring back two stranded astronauts from the International Space Station, with a crew of test pilots heading up in a capsule rocket. Due to safety concerns with Boeing’s spacecraft, NASA opted for SpaceX to return the astronauts in late February, after more than eight months in space. The crew rotation and reassignments were made to accommodate the change in plans, with SpaceX continuing its lead in NASA’s commercial crew program.
