The attorney general has confirmed that Southport killer Axel Rudakubana’s sentence of 52 years for the murder of three young girls and attempted murder of 10 others will not be referred to the Court of Appeal. Despite criticism from some MPs and a parent of a survivor, Lord Hermer KC stated that the sentence, while severe, does not meet the criteria for being deemed unduly lenient after careful consideration and consultation with legal experts.
