South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol appeared in court to contest his arrest on a rebellion charge for briefly imposing martial law in December. Yoon’s indictment alleges he orchestrated an illegal attempt to shut down the National Assembly. His conservative supporters have rioted, and his defense minister, police chief, and military commanders have also been arrested and indicted on charges related to the martial law decree.
