Former South Korean First Lady Kim Keon Hee has been sentenced to one year and eight months in prison for accepting bribes from the Unification Church, while being cleared of additional charges. The prosecution accused her of receiving bribes and gifts totaling at least $200,000. Her husband, ex-President Yoon Suk Yeol, who was ousted from office and sentenced to five years in prison for declaring martial law in 2024, could potentially face the death penalty in a separate case.
