Sony reports Destiny 2 has not met sales expectations
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Sony has expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of Destiny 2, stating that sales and user engagement have not met expectations following its acquisition of Bungie, leading to a $204 million impairment on the developer’s intangible assets. This impairment reflects a decrease in the value of the Destiny IP and customer relationships rather than direct financial losses. Despite this, Sony remains committed to Bungie, highlighting its successes in live service games while acknowledging challenges like the failed Concord. The future of Bungie’s projects, including a Star Wars-themed expansion and the delayed Marathon, is now under increased scrutiny.
