Somalia says 24 people have died after 2 boats capsized in the Indian Ocean

Twenty-four people died in two boat capsizings off the Madagascar coast in the Indian Ocean, with 46 survivors rescued by Somalia’s government. Most passengers were young Somalis seeking better opportunities abroad, with a delegation traveling to Madagascar to assist survivors. Additionally, Somalia’s ambassador to Morocco is investigating reports of stranded Somali youth, as the U.N. migration agency raises concerns over rising irregular migration from the Horn of Africa due to conflict and drought.
