Meta, TikTok, Snap, and other social networks have agreed to be rated on their teen safety efforts by the Mental Health Coalition, launching the Safe Online Standards (S.O.S.) program to evaluate safety rules, design, moderation, and mental health resources. TikTok, Snap, and Meta will be the first to be assessed, with Discord, YouTube, Pinterest, Roblox, and Twitch also participating. Companies will receive color-coded ratings, with a blue shield badge for those excelling and a red rating for those failing to meet standards. This initiative aims to enhance accountability and public awareness regarding platform protections for young users.
