Family houses, family businesses, and agricultural land worth up to €2m would be excluded from a new tax targeting “excess wealth,” with rates of 0.5pc on assets over €1m and 1pc on assets over €2m. The party’s manifesto also includes promises such as widening inheritance tax bands, building affordable homes, banning vulture funds from buying existing homes, implementing Sláintecare, and decriminalizing small quantities of drugs for personal use. Other pledges include rent freezes, a vacant house tax hike, lowering prescription charges, installing solar panels on homes, and implementing a culture voucher and a €1 fare for public transport.
