Sinn Fein press officers resign after providing references for ex colleague Michael McMonagle convicted of child sex crimes

Michael McMonagle, a former Sinn Féin press officer, admitted to a series of offences, including attempting to incite children to engage in sexual activity. He was arrested in August 2021 while working at the Northern Ireland Assembly. Sinn Féin stated that McMonagle informed them of the situation and has since been removed from his position.
