Two leaders of the Sinaloa Cartel, Pedro Inzunza Noriega and his son, Pedro Inzunza Coronel, were indicted on narco-terrorism charges for allegedly trafficking large quantities of fentanyl into the U.S., as part of the Beltran Leyva Organization. This indictment, the first from the Department of Justice’s Narco-Terrorism Unit, follows the Trump administration’s designation of the Sinaloa Cartel as a Foreign Terrorist Organization. Despite ongoing law enforcement efforts, including recent fentanyl seizures in Sinaloa, both individuals remain at-large, with further indictments pending against other cartel members.
