Shear success: Marika is one of a growing number of women working in an iconic Australian industry

Marika Martini, originally from Italy, started working as a ‘roustabout’ or shearing shed hand in 2017. She is part of a increasing group of women entering this industry. Martini currently serves as a trainer at a technical college, where she trains others for careers in the shearing industry.

Italy-born Marika Martini revealed to SBS Italian that she had never laid eyes on a live sheep until she arrived…
