Senegal celebrates AFCON trophy despite Morocco being awarded the title

Senegal paraded the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) trophy at Stade de France ahead of their friendly match against Peru, despite being stripped of the title following a controversial ruling by the Confederation of African Football (CAF). The trophy was showcased by captain Kalidou Koulibaly and goalkeeper Edouard Mendy after a performance by Senegalese artist Youssou N’Dour. Senegal plans to appeal the CAF decision, which awarded Morocco the title after Senegal’s players walked off during the final.
