Senate approves three bills to fund government

The Senate passed a three-bill package to fund parts of the government, with an 82 to 15 vote, sending it to President Trump before a weeklong recess. This package includes funding for the Departments of Commerce, Justice, and Interior, as well as the EPA. The House has approved eight of the twelve annual spending measures, but contentious issues, particularly regarding Homeland Security funding and ICE accountability, remain unresolved. Lawmakers are negotiating the final bills ahead of the January 30 deadline to prevent a partial shutdown.
