Democratic Sen. Jacky Rosen of Nevada has announced a significant investment in her reelection campaign. Her campaign is reserving $14 million for ads in Nevada, a crucial battleground state that could impact the balance of power in the Senate as well as the outcome of the presidential election.
Rosen’s ad reservation is the largest ever for a Senate race in Nevada, running from late July until Election Day in the Las Vegas and Reno media markets. The Cook Political Report recently shifted the Nevada Senate race from “lean D” to “toss-up,” along with races in Ohio, Montana, and Arizona, all key targets for Republicans seeking to secure the Senate majority in November.
In an interview with CBS News, Jessica Taylor from The Cook Political Report mentioned that the rating change reflects Nevada’s unique challenges post-Covid and with immigration. Despite Democrats winning Nevada narrowly in the past, the state is showing a trend away from the party.
Nevada faces high population turnover, unlike other swing states, which diminishes the advantages of incumbency. National Republicans are supporting Sam Brown in the Senate race against Rosen, with the primary election scheduled for June.
Rosen has already launched a significant ad campaign, including ads focused on her bipartisan approach and outreach to Latino voters. Her campaign manager emphasized Rosen’s record as a bipartisan Senator in contrast to extreme Republican opponents.
