Singapore shipyard group Seatrium has secured a contract with BP for the engineering, procurement, construction, and onshore commissioning of the Kaskida floating production unit in the US Gulf of Mexico. The project, located in the Keathley Canyon area, will produce 80,000 barrels of crude oil per day from six wells in a water depth of 1,800 meters. BP estimates the development costs to be between $15bn and $20bn for this project, their first in the Gulf of Mexico since the Deepwater Horizon disaster.
