Seatrium Offshore Technology has won an international tender from IMI to supply equipment and license for a self-elevating drilling unit, following a joint venture between ARO Drilling and IMI to build a new jack-up drilling rig named Kingdom 3 in Saudi Arabia. The chosen design is the LeTourneau Super 116E Class, customized for operational requirements in the Middle East and North Africa, featuring advanced cyber systems and marking the 44th order for the series. Seatrium, known for designing the world’s first independent leg jackup rig, is involved in constructing 65% of jackups in the Middle East, with plans to build a total of 20 jackups in Saudi Arabia.
