In 2010, a 51-year-old man fell overboard from the Norwegian Epic cruise ship en route to the Bahamas. The search and rescue operation ended unsuccessfully less than 24 hours after he was reported missing. This incident marked the 19th overboard incident on a cruise ship that year.
