Research published in Nature Communications indicates that certain chemicals can influence multiple sclerosis (MS) risk and progression. Blood samples from 907 MS patients revealed that hydroxylated polychlorinated biphenyls (OH-PCBs) increase MS risk, while per- and polyfluorinated substances (PFAS) like PFOA and PFOS may slow disease progression, particularly in men. To reduce PFAS exposure, individuals can opt for non-stick alternatives, avoid stain-resistant treatments, and use PFAS-free products, enhancing health while saving costs.
