A recent study led by Professor Yang Li from Peking University revealed that the far side of the moon may be significantly colder than the near side, based on analysis of soil samples collected by China’s Chang’e-6 lander from the South Pole-Aitken basin. The findings, published in Nature Geoscience, suggest that the differences in temperature and volcanic activity between the two sides could provide insights into the moon’s formation and the early history of the Earth-moon system.
