Premier David Eby announced that OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has agreed to apologize to the Tumbler Ridge community after it was revealed that the company did not report the account of mass shooter Jesse Van Rootselaar, who killed eight people in February. Eby emphasized the need for a national policy requiring AI companies to notify authorities about potential threats. Altman also committed to collaborate with the B.C. government on AI regulation and improve safety protocols.
