Waymo has halted its robotaxi service in parts of Los Angeles following vandalism of its vehicles during anti-ICE protests. Five autonomous Jaguar I-Pace vehicles were summoned to the protests, where they suffered slashed tires, spray-painted messages, and three were set on fire, prompting the LAPD to issue warnings about toxic gases from the burning EVs. The protests were a response to aggressive ICE raids in the city, leading thousands to confront federal agents over the weekend, and Waymo is currently coordinating with law enforcement regarding the incidents.
