Roblox launches AI chat rephraser for detecting inappropriate language

7 March 2026

Roblox has introduced an AI-powered feature that rephrases inappropriate language in real-time, moving away from its previous method of replacing censored messages with hash marks. The new system will provide more appropriate substitutes for profanity, while still alerting users about the edits. This update is part of Roblox’s ongoing efforts to enhance user safety, especially following lawsuits regarding child grooming on the platform. The feature is available for chats among age-verified users in supported languages.
