In pivotal races for mayors, councils, and more in Chicago suburbs including Aurora, Elgin, Elmhurst, Evanston, Glenbrook, Gurnee, Homer Glen, Naperville, Northbrook, North Chicago, Oak Park, Orland Park, Park Ridge, Skokie, the south suburbs, Thornton Township, Tinley Park, and Waukegan, results show incumbent Aurora Mayor Richard Irvin losing to challenger Ald. John Laesch, with Laesch securing 52.32% of the vote. In Elmhurst, incumbent Mayor Scott Levin appears to have defeated challenger Mark Mulliner by a wide margin. Additionally, Evanston Mayor Daniel Biss declared victory over challenger Jeff Boarini with about 60% of the vote.
