Researchers uncover a link to autism—and it isn’t vaccines

Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has called for an investigation into debunked claims of vaccines causing autism, while a new study from China published in the Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology journal reveals a link between gestational diabetes and an increased risk of neurodevelopmental disorders, including autism. The meta-analysis of data from 202 studies of over 56 million mother-child pairs shows a 28% higher risk for neurodevelopmental disorders in children of mothers with gestational diabetes, with increased risks for ADHD, intellectual disability, and other issues. Researchers suggest more research is needed and recommend diligent monitoring of blood sugar levels during pregnancy.
