A rescue mission led by US Central Command is currently underway for the Greek-flagged oil tanker Sounion, which was attacked by Houthi rebels off the coast of Yemen last month while carrying 150,000 metric tons of crude oil. The vessel is still ablaze and poses a major threat in the southern Red Sea near Hodeida. Salvage efforts are ongoing to address the disabled tanker and prevent a potential environmental disaster.
