In Manitoba, there has been a 122 per cent increase in households using food banks since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to a 30 per cent rise in food bank use compared to March 2023. Harvest Manitoba is facing challenges meeting the rising demand, with over a quarter of distributed food now needing to be purchased, highlighting the urgent need for government action to address poverty and food security issues.
