RCMP investigation can’t determine cause of 2021 Lytton wildfire

In June 2021, a criminal investigation into the devastating fire that destroyed much of the village of Lytton, B.C., was unable to determine the cause, according to RCMP. The fire, which killed two people and ravaged the village and part of the Lytton First Nation, occurred the day after a record-breaking temperature of 49.6 C was recorded in the area. RCMP stated that they were unable to establish the cause of the fire and could not prove any criminal offence.
