A rare white-tailed eagle released as part of the NPWS’s reintroduction programme was found shot dead near Lough Owel in Co Westmeath. The NPWS has launched an investigation and is appealing to the public for information. The bird, fitted with a satellite tag, had been travelling extensively before her death, and anyone with information is urged to contact the NPWS in confidence.
