Rev. Jesse Jackson, Sr. is best known for founding the Rainbow PUSH Coalition in 1996, a national organization advocating for social justice, which emerged from the earlier PUSH and Rainbow Coalition groups. Jackson’s work began in the Civil Rights Movement with Operation Breadbasket, aimed at reducing unemployment in the Black community. Through PUSH, he initiated economic improvements and affirmative action campaigns, while the Rainbow Coalition fought for equal rights and social programs.
