Rachel Maddow staffers laid off as part of MSNBC production cuts

MSNBC star Rachel Maddow will lose much of her staff in production cuts, with her team expected to be slashed in April after finishing five nights a week in primetime coverage of President Trump’s first 100 days. The show will revert to only Mondays, and laid-off staff, including those from “The Alex Wagner Show,” are being invited to reapply for new positions as resources are reallocated for new programs. Maddow criticized the treatment of staffers, defended former colleague Joy Reid, and expressed concern over the cancellation of shows hosted by non-White hosts, amidst a broader trend of layoffs in the news industry.
