All-solid-state batteries (ASSBs) are seen as the future of EV technology, promising significant improvements in range, charging time, and cost. Samsung SDI is collaborating with BMW and Solid Power to advance the commercialization of these batteries, building on prior work between BMW and Solid Power since 2022. Under their new agreement, Samsung will provide ASSB cells using Solid Power’s sulfide-based electrolyte, while BMW will handle battery pack development. This partnership aims to accelerate the mass production and adoption of ASSBs in the automotive market.
