Quebec wants to force new doctors to work in public sector, Dubé says

Quebec Health Minister Christian Dubé announced plans to introduce a law requiring family doctors and medical specialists trained in Quebec to work in the public system at the start of their careers, although the duration of this requirement was not specified. This decision comes as the province has seen a rise in doctors trained in the public sector choosing to work in the private network, with 775 out of 22,479 doctors in Quebec practicing exclusively in the private sector, marking a 70% increase since 2020.
