Class Action Launched After Quebec Man’s Assisted Dying Decision

Advocates and the widow of Normand Meunier, a quadriplegic man who died after developing a severe bedsore during a hospital stay, are preparing a class-action lawsuit against Quebec. Meunier requested medical assistance in dying following his suffering and died shortly after. A coroner’s report criticized hospital practices and recommended better access to therapeutic mattresses. His partner, Sylvie Brosseau, aims to prevent similar cases and will also pursue damages against the hospital and health authority.
