Pulse nightclub shooting survivors and family members tour building before demolition

Survivors and victims’ families of the 2016 Pulse nightclub shooting are touring the site before its demolition, marking the event’s nine-year anniversary. Approximately 250 attendees, including 25 families of the 49 victims, reflect on the tragedy where Omar Mateen killed 49 people during a Latin Night celebration. The city of Orlando plans to establish a permanent memorial at the site, following years of advocacy from families, while questions remain regarding the police response and the investigation into the attack as a potential hate crime.
