A rainbow crosswalk in Orlando, part of the Pulse Memorial honoring the 49 victims of the 2016 shooting at the Pulse nightclub, was painted over by the state, prompting criticism from Mayor Buddy Dyer and survivor Brandon Wolf, who called it a desecration of the victims’ memories. The removal follows a directive from former Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy advocating for uniform roadway markings free from “political banners.”
