The nightclub is being replaced with a permanent memorial to one of the US’s worst mass shootings in modern history.
Survivors and families of the 49 victims of the 2016 Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando have begun visiting the site before its demolition, marking the ninth anniversary of the tragedy. The city purchased the property for $2 million and plans to construct a $12 million permanent memorial set to open in 2027, following previous failed attempts for a memorial. While the building will be razed, the community continues to seek support and healing, as emphasized by survivor Brandon Wolf.
