Rise in Psilocybin Use Among Americans
Psilocybin use in the U.S. has increased since 2019, according to a report in the Annals of Internal Medicine, with changes in public perception and decriminalization driving this trend. The study found that 12% of adults reported ever using psilocybin in 2023, with significant rises among younger populations; however, overall use remains low. Calls to poison control centers have also surged, particularly among children, raising concerns about unregulated access to psilocybin products.
