In the FIFA Intercontinental Cup final in Qatar, Paris Saint-Germain triumphed over Flamengo in a penalty shootout, winning 2-1 after a 1-1 draw in regulation and extra time. PSG’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia opened the scoring, but Flamengo equalized through Jorginho’s penalty. Backup goalkeeper Matvei Safonov saved four penalties to secure PSG’s victory, following their path to the title after Real Madrid’s inaugural win last year.
