Ontario Superior Court Chief Justice Geoffrey Morawetz approved a motion for creditors to review and vote on a proposed $32.5 billion tobacco deal in December. JTI-Macdonald Corp. objected to the plan, while Rothmans, Benson & Hedges and Imperial Tobacco Canada Ltd. did not oppose it but reserved the right to contest it later. The deal includes $24 billion for provinces and territories for smoking-related health-care costs and $6 billion for Canadian smokers and their families.
