Pro-Marcos Candidates Set to Dominate Philippine Senate Election: Poll – The Diplomat

A recent survey by Social Weather Stations revealed that 9 out of 12 Senate candidates endorsed by Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. are leading in the polls for the upcoming elections, with 2 allies of Rodrigo Duterte and 2 independents also in the running. The election, seen as a proxy battle between the Marcos and Duterte camps, has shown strong support for the Marcos administration, potentially impacting the outcome of Vice President Duterte’s impeachment trial in June and her future political aspirations. Key Duterte allies Bong Go and Ronald dela Rosa are also expected to retain their Senate seats, indicating a likely victory for President Marcos in the political war between the two families.
