John Richard Bracken, the Gisborne farmer convicted of New Zealand’s largest GST fraud, has been ordered to surrender up to $16 million in real estate and other assets to the Crown. Bracken, who was sentenced to eight years and six months in prison in 2021 for 39 charges of fraudulent GST claims, benefited approximately $17.3 million from his illegal activities and has since been paroled. Restraining orders had been placed on his properties during the legal proceedings.
